Oscars Night

Today it's Oscars day!

Which means to many people (and I'm also included) dresses on the red carpet, but I'm going to mention the movie nominees. 

I already saw 7 of the 9 nominees. Still missing Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and The Tree of Life, the second is definitely not my kind of movie and the first I might like but it's not a probable winner. 

So, from the ones I saw, a brief comment/personal opinion:

The Artist - Way better than I expected! Loved how the expressions said so much more than words would have. 8,5/10

Hugo - Lovely and funny. A sweet tribute to the beginning of the cinema. 9/10

The Descendants - It's nice, but the story is not new, there's no surprise. 7/10

War Horse - Reminded me why, when I was little, liked Steven Spielberg so much. So sentimental, specialy directed to the horse. 8,5/10

Midnight in Paris - Interesting and funny, with a great story and scenery. 8/10

The Help - What I really liked about this movie were the strong and amazing performances, and some funny and unexpected scenes :) 7/10

Moneyball - I don't understand a thing about baseball and sports movies aren't my favorites. Enough said. 5/10

Oh, a note for something that really annoys me in movies: despite the nationality, everyone speaks in english but with some accent that supposedly indicates their real mother language (Hugo and War Horse).

My personal favorite is Hugo, but I think The Artist will be the winner.

Hoje é dia de Oscars!

O que significa para muitas pessoas (e também em parte para mim), vestidos no tapete vermelho ;), mas eu vou é mencionar os filmes nomeados. 

Já vi 7 dos 9 filmes nomeados. Faltam Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close e The Tree of Life, o primeiro não será certamente vencedor já que está longe de ser um favorito da crítica, e o segundo não faz de maneira nenhuma o meu género. 

Então, dos que eu vi, um breve comentário/opinião pessoal:

The Artist - Muito melhor que esperava! Adorei como as expressões diziam muito mais do que as palavras teriam dito.  8,5/10

Hugo - Adorável e divertido. Um bonito tributo ao inicio do cinema. 9/10

The Descendants - Vê-se bem mas a história não é nova, não há surpresa. 7/10

War Horse - Lembrou-me porque, quando era mais nova, gostava tanto de Steven Spielberg. Um filme sentimental e emocionante, especialmente em relação ao cavalo. 8,5/10

Midnight in Paris - Interessante e divertido, com uma grande história e ambiente. 8/10

The Help - O que mais gostei neste filme foram as fantásticas representações, e algumas cenas engraçadas e inesperadas. 7/10

Moneyball - Não perecebo nada de basebol e filmes relacionados com desportos não são os meus favoritos. Não é preciso dizer mais. 5/10

Oh e uma nota para algo que me irrita muito em filmes: apesar da nacionalidade, toda a gente fala inglês mas com um sotaque que remete à sua suposta língua materna (acontece em Hugo e em War Horse). 

O meu favorito é o Hugo mas penso que The Artist será o vencedor mais provável.
