Last Weekend

So, I was right about the Oscars, but it wasn't really that hard since The Artist has been winning all those awards... 

Anyway, today the sun is not showing, seems like the good weather has come to an end...

Oscars Night

Today it's Oscars day!

Which means to many people (and I'm also included) dresses on the red carpet, but I'm going to mention the movie nominees. 

I already saw 7 of the 9 nominees. Still missing Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and The Tree of Life, the second is definitely not my kind of movie and the first I might like but it's not a probable winner. 

So, from the ones I saw, a brief comment/personal opinion:

Gone and back again

I decided to make some changes and now the blog is more light , but I'm still sorting this out so nothing is definitive. What do you think?

Today I bring you a new outfit post, from a day last week that I got out early from work and had the chance to enjoy the sun a little bit. And it's always nice to go for a walk, especially by the river Mondego (in Coimbra).

About Yesterday

Yesterday there were no chocolates or a dinner out, but instead a beautiful bouquet of roses and both of us cooking for a special dinner with everything included, appetizers, main dish and desert. :)

And your day was good?

Ontem não houve chocolates nem jantar fora, em vez disso houve um lindo bouquet de rosas e um jantar cozinhado por nós os dois com tudo incluído, entradas, prato principal e sobremesa. :)

E o vosso dia foi bom?

I don't know if you're familiar with the Empire magazine site, Empire online, but it has some interesting features. One of my favorites is the movie picture quiz, where you have to guess the name of the movie having only a partial image, the last one is about couples. How many can you guess?

Eu não sei se conhecem o site principal da revista Empire, Empire online, mas têm umas partes muito interessantes. Uma das minhas favoritas é o quiz de imagens de filmes, onde têm de adivinhar o nome do filme a partir de uma imagem parcial, o último foi sobre  casais. Quantos conseguem adivinhar?

Monday Morning

Monday... the beggining of a week that I'm predicting to be very exhausting. Of course we want results, so we have to grab the oportunity to work as much as we can when things are going well, like last week. But it's tiring at the same.

Yesterday night there were cinema and music awards, Baftas and Grammys respectively. The Artist took all the most important awards (except for the best actress that went to Meryl Streep) as it was kinda of expected since that's what happened in all the other awards and I guess will happen to the Oscars too. And Adele won six of the Grammys, also expected (there's no place with radio that I go that eventually won't play one of her songs. And if I stay too long it will play twice), a ceremony marked by the loss of the great Whitney Houston.

Segunda... o inicio de uma semana que estou a prever muito cansativa. Claro que queremos resultados, e portanto temos de agarrar a oportunidade de trabalhar o mais que conseguimos quando as coisas estão a correr bem, como na semana passada. Mas, é cansativo na mesma.

Ontem à noite houve prémios de cinema e de música, Baftas e Grammys respectivamente. O Artista levou todos os prémios mais importantes (excepto o de melhor actriz que foi para Meryl Streep) como esperado, já que é o que têm acontecido em todos os últimos prémios, e provavelmente vai acontecer também nos Óscars. E Adele ganhou seis dos Grammys, também esperado (não há local com rádio que vá que eventualmente não toque uma música dela, ás vezes até duas), uma cerimónia marcada pela perda da grande Whitney Houston. Ainda não tive oportunidade de ver vestidos, deixo para vocês me dizerem qual gostaram mais (e menos) ;)

Hoje todo o país está de aviso amarelo, é para sair de casa bem agasalhado!!

This is a first

Yesterday was the first day, since I've had the blog, that I had the oportunity to take some photos. It turned out to be a darker outfit, with jeans (that I wear a lot), a warm high collar knit sweater and my favorite boots. It's lacking some rings, that I usually like, but my hands right now can't stand something in them.

I just want to know what you think and if I could continue doing it.

Note: I don't feel confortable with showing my face, maybe that will change in the future.

Ontem foi o primeiro dia, desde que tenho o blog, em que tive oportunidade de tirar algumas fotografias. Acabou por ser um outfit mais escuro, com calças de ganga (que visto muito), uma camisola de gola alta quentinha e as minhas botas favoritas. Faltam alguns anéis, que geralmente adoro, mas as minhas mãos estão num estado em que não aguentam bem algo nelas. 

Gostava de saber o que acham e se vale a pena continuar a fazer este tipo de post no futuro. 

Nota: Não me sinto ainda confortável em mostrar a cara, talvez isso mude no futuro.

Photographing Dragonflies

As I've said before, this was a  very complicated week, with much work for many hours. So, today since there wasn't anything to be done I slept a lot and profoundly. 

I have also some other photos to show you, this time of dragonflies, hope you like them :)

Como tinha dito antes, esta foi uma semana muito complicada, com muito trabalho durante muitas horas. Portanto foi com grande agrado que vi a sexta-feira chegar, já que geralmente significa fim-de-semana prolongado. Então hoje dormi muito e profundamente!

Fairytales in Cinema: Part II

Continuing the theme of fairytales in cinema, here are the movies to be released only on 2013. The first two  based on the same tale.

Continuando no tema dos contos (agora já não tanto de fadas), aqui estão os filmes que vão sair só em 2013, sendo os dois primeiros baseados na mesma história.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters happens 15 years after the traumatic gingerbread-house incident. Where the siblings have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. Only one image has been released. To be released on January 10th.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters acontece 15 anos depois do incidente traumático da casa de gengibre. Onde os irmãos tornaram-se numa fantástica equipa de caçadores de recompensas que procura e mata bruxas por todo o mundo. Ainda só foi lançada uma imagem e será lançado nos EUA a 10 de Janeiro (nenhuma data ainda para Portugal). 

Hansel & Gretel that from what I've read it's the regular story, but in 3D. (by the way, do you like 3D? I still think that the only thing it does is make the tickets more expensive, since I feel that there isn't a big difference between the 3D or regular version).

Hansel & Gretel que pelo resumo que li é a história que toda a gente conhece, mas em 3D! (e já agora, vocês gostam do 3D? Na minha opinião a única coisa que neste momento faz é aumentar o preço dos bilhetes, já vi filmes na versão regular e não senti que estava a perder alguma coisa por terem sido lançados no cinema em 3D)

Jack the Giant Killer, in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.  IMDb says it will be released on  March 22nd 2013, instead of the poster date.

Jack the Giant Killer, também uma versão modernizada/alterada do conto, em que a paz de longa duração entre homens e gigantes é ameaçada quando um jovem parte numa expedição ao reino dos gigantes para resgatar a princesa.

E hoje, se não tivesse já parte do post feito não dava para cá passar... dizia eu ontem que tinha planeado 10 horas. Na verdade foram 12!! Sim, 12 horas! E, agora vou dormir e sonhar com um dia de quarta que tenha menos horas de trabalho. Porque assim a sexta-feira e o fim-de-semana ainda parecem lá bem longe...

The Dog Strikes Back

Today was a very exhausting day, and tomorrow will be even worse since we're counting with at least 10 hours of work so we can test all the new protocols. (but don't be mistaken, I'm happy to start having some results!)

Oh, and now we have two new erasmus students doing a project and I spent almost all day talking and thinking in english. I'm afraid I'm going to start answering my phone to my mom or boyfriend in english too.

Anyway, I'll leave you with my favorite commercial from last night, that aired during Super Bowl (and the commercials are the only thing I care since I don't understand football, at all!!)

(But I understand if your favorite is the David Beckham for H&M one)

Hoje foi um dia muito cansativo! E amanhã será ainda pior já que estamos a contar com pelo menos 10 horas de trabalho para testar todos os novos protocolos. (mas na verdade, estou até bastante satisfeita por começar a ter alguns resultados!)

Oh, e agora vieram duas novas alunas de Erasmus para lá fazerem um projecto e passo o dia a falar e a pensar em inglês. Receio que vá começar a atender o telefone à minha mãe ou namorado também em ingês...

Mudando de assunto, deixo-vos com a minha publicidade favorita que deu ontem durante o Super Bowl (e as publicidades são a única coisa que me interessam já que não percebo nada de futebol americano!)

Fluffy

I've already shown you my cat, now I'm presenting you my other adorable pet, Fluffy. And yes I know the name is not the best but I was too young... and now that I think about it, he has almost 10 years wich corresponds to 56-58 dog-years (as the time flies).

He's super sweet with me and my parents but with other people... well, let's just say I don't advise anyone to get too close. Oh, and even though he knows my boyfriend for a long time he still can't stand him!

Já vos mostrei a minha gatinha, e agora quero-vos apresentar o meu outro adorável animal de estimação (e amigo!), Fluffy. E sim, eu sei que o nome não é o mais original mas eu era nova de mais quando fui incumbida de lhe dar o nome... e agora que penso nisso, ele já tem quase 10 anos, o que corresponde a 56-58 anos de cão (como o tempo voa!).

Ele é muito meigo com os donos, eu e os meus pais, e faz-me sempre uma festa quando vou a casa aos fins-de-semana. Mas com outras pessoas...bem, eu definitivamente não aconselho ninguém a aproximar-se demasiado (é que este morde...). Oh, e mesmo depois de conhecer o meu namorado há imenso tempo ele continua a não o suportar! Agora não sei se é por ciúmes ou porque quer festas que o meu namorado ainda não tem coragem de dar.

Valentine's Day is almost here, and I've seen a lot of beautiful things to buy and receive, but we don't offer presents to one another. Instead, we try to spend the day together (it will depend if he is working) and do something we don't do everyday. Going to a restaurant or to the movies, for example.

O dia dos Namorados está quase aí, e já vi imensas sugestões bonitas de coisas para oferecer ou receber, mas nós não compramos presentes um ao outro neste dia. Em vez disso, tentamos passar o dia juntos (vai depender do trabalho dele) e fazemos algo que não é comum aos outros dias. Como ir ao restaurante, ao cinema ou dar um passeio especial, por exemplo.

Fairytales in Cinema: Part I

There has always been movies based on fairy tales, just last year we had Red Riding Hood and Beastly, but sometimes there seems to be a trend going on. This year we'll be having two movies based on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and for 2013 are being produced/filmed two movies based on Hansel and Gretel.

Sempre houve filmes baseados em contos de fadas, e no ano passado houve por exemplo Red Riding Hood e Beastly, mas às vezes parece haver uma tendência. Este ano vamos ter dois filmes baseados na história da Branca de Neve e os Sete Anões e para 2013 estão a ser produzidos/filmados também dois filmes desta vez baseados no conto Hansel e Gretel. 

Snow White and the Huntsman tells a story a little bit different from the one we know, where the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen. To be released on June 1st. See the trailer here.

Snow White and the Huntsman conta a história de uma maneira um pouco diferente daquela que conhecemos, onde o Caçador, a quem foi ordenado que levasse a Branca de Neve para a floresta para a matar, acaba por se tornar no seu protector e mentor numa demanda para derrotar a Rainha Má. Vai estrear a 31 de Maio em Portugal. Vejam o trailer aqui.

Mirror Mirror, a movie where an evil queen steals control of a kingdom and an exiled princess enlists the help of seven resourceful rebels to win back her birthright. 

It's way more colorful than the other one but I didn't like the trailer very much, found everything too exagerated, specially the dialogues. To be released on March 16th. See the trailer here.

Mirror Mirror, um filme onde a Rainha Má rouba o controlo do reino e uma princesa exilada recorre à ajuda de sete rebeldes engenhosos para reconquistar o seu direito de nascença. 

Este é bem mais colorido que o anterior, mas eu não gostei do trailer. Achei tudo muito exagerado, especialmente os diálogos. Estreia em Portugal dia 12 de Abril. Vejam o trailer aqui.

Extra: On IMDb there's another movie entitled Snow White, but there's no information about it. // No IMDb existe outro filme com o nome Snow White, mas não existe qualquer informação sobre ele.

The post was getting too big so I'll do another one to describe the movies to be release on 2013. I hope you like this kind of story or/and find this information usefull.

5. Only very recently I started eating, and liking, vegetables.

I would love to see snow

Seriously, why do we have the cold but not the snow? I haven't seen a beautiful white landscape for a very long time...

Anyway, since it's suposed to get even colder this weekend we have two options, stay at home or go out dressed in layers, with gloves and a warm scarf. Two inspirations (and very different one from the other) from lookbook that seem quite cozy and warm.

But I'm not really complaining, I'd rather have the cold & sun than the cold & rain.

Oh, and I've just received a call from my mentor and it seems I have plans for the weekend... besides the need to end the introduction, I have do a presentation of my project to monday. So, no more pretending to be working!

A sério, porque havemos de ter o frio mas não a neve? Já não vejo aquela bonita paisagem branca (sem contar com a geada) à muito tempo... 
De qualquer forma, já que é suposto ficar ainda mais frio este fim-de-semana temos duas hipóteses, ou ficamos em casa ao quentinho ou saímos vestidas em camadas, com luvas e um bom cachecol. Duas inspirações (uma muito diferente da outra) do lookbook que me parecem bem aconchegantes.

Ah, e acabei de receber um telefonema da minha orientadora e parece que já tenho planos para o fim-de-semana... para além de ter de acabar a introdução (claro que preciso ainda de a começar), tenho de fazer uma apresentação do projecto para segunda. Portanto, nada de continuar a fingir que estou a trabalhar!

February begins

This new month starts with a lazy day... I did go to the lab in the morning, but in the afternoon I felt like doing nothing, just watching some episodes and a movie. And it was raining and cold, so what a nicer program than to stay warm with a blanket, watching Ryan Gosling (ok, maybe for you with another actor) and eating popcorn?

Este novo mês começa para mim com um dia de preguiça... Fui ao laboratório de manhã mas durante a tarde não me apeteceu fazer nada. Apenas ficar a ver alguns episódios e um filme. E estava frio e a chover, portanto que melhor programa que ficar ao quentinho enrolada numa manta, e ver o Ryan Gosling (ok, para vocês pode ser a ver um outro actor) e a comer pipocas?
